There haven’t been any updates mainly because John has been pretty stable and we were hoping to find out where he would be going next. Then John developed an infection stemming from the catheter which is fairly common when you can’t move and was given two different IVs three times a day which stalled the move to the next facility.  He’s down to one IV three times a day now so he is improving. As soon as the infection clears, there will be an accelerated push to find him a new sub acute care facility as he is way over his 30-day limit at Kindred Ontario Hospital.

We are still hopeful to find a facility in the Palm Springs area, but it’s really which facility that can take him as a ventilated patient and has an open bed. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is moved early next week. As I mentioned before, the sub acute facilities are quite small with around 25 beds so it’s a bit like musical chairs to find a place.

I wanted to thank Jeffrey Farnsworth who has been taking care of Max.  If you know Max, he’s in much better shape and thinner now under Jeffrey’s watch in the photo for this post. I’ve been protecting Max’s dignity and not posted any fat Max photos. Max tends to get spoiled with treats and will even bang his metal dish on the floor when he feels like you weren’t being generous enough with his food, and it’s hard to say no to him. However, Jeffrey has been keeping Max active and on a strict diet and says Max has more energy now. I’m not sure Max needed more energy though. If you’ve ever chased him around the house to get a sock back or had your shoulder pulled out of the socket when he sees a squirrel while walking him, you would know what I mean. It’s great to see him in such good shape and looking young and fit. Now we just need John to follow.

Hi Fred! So glad to hear some kind of news although the infection has brought yet one more obstacle .
Thank you for letting us know what’s going on. We all worry and I’m keeping you and Johnny T in my prayers.
Tell Max he looks fantastic and now he can probably run even faster to catch those tricky squirrels!! My boxer Mischa liked chasing birds!! And do you remember the story about Mischa tearing my dads toupee apart ????? We were still in high school many moons ago.
