Finally, some amazing news! I’m so happy to report that today John had an amazing day. Our brother Richie who has run large hospitals in his career is visiting John and called me from the hospital. John was cleared of his infection on Friday and today was his best day ever.
Richie said he was able to move his jaw back and forth, move his tongue around (a first) and move his head to the side (another first) to look at Richie. When Richie is excited about John’s progress, I know it’s a good day.
We were hoping for these signs a month ago, as GBS starts from the extremities but recovers from the nerves closest to the brain and then down and out. Between Covid, pneumonia, and multiple infections, his recovery was put on pause while he was fighting complications but today was a great step forward. Sean Howell also texted me with similar news after his visit with John today.
We should see more improvements to come.
So now that he is practically jogging around the hospital, they will want to move him soon. As soon as I hear his next destination, I will let everyone know.
